TELL ME ABOUT THE BABY
Please tell me about the baby born long ago,
Tell me that He came because He loved me so,
Tell me about the animals in the stable so cold
And how the angels sang in those days of old.

The mother kindly smiled and stopped her work,
Telling her child about Jesus she would not shirk,
She told of the shepherds who came to Bethlehem
And how the herald angels sweetly sang to them.

But tell me about the baby, what colour were His eyes?
Please tell me mommy, did the animals hear His cries?
Was He really born in a stable, like where our cows live?
Was it truly like that? Mommy what Gift can I give?

I do not know the colour of His eyes, but they were bright,
I am sure the animals heard Him cry on that special night,
He was placed in a manger, with hay in for the beasts to eat,
And I know the shepherds came their new born king to greet.

Now my little inquiring child, the best thing you can give
Is a life in His service, and a good life always try and live.
And when you are big and have small children of your own,
Tell them about the baby so they’ll know when they are grown.
