FORTUNATE
The multitudes crowded around to hear what Jesus said,
He filled some with hope and wonder and others with dread.
He healed the sick and afflicted, blest those who were in need,
And with a small amount of food many thousands did feed.

He was loved and hated by those in the crowds that came,
None of them after hearing His voice were ever the same.
One woman’s voice from the multitude cried with love,
“The woman who bore thee is fortunate, blest by God above.”

Can you imagine how Jesus felt when the woman did speak?
The love for His mother so humble, kind and truly meek.
A teaching moment He found to show His loving care,
Like Mary, they were fortunate, those who were listening there.

If after listening they heeded, and followed the right way,
If they obeyed from then on the words of God each day,
Followed Him as He taught, softening a heart to tenderness,
Then, like Mary, fortunate indeed and God did them bless.

Fortunate when we hear the truth and so feel His love,
Blest by a Father who cares for us in heaven above,
For into my heart came Jesus and helped wipe evil away,
Fortunate, like Mary, blest, for growing knowledge every day.
