Things to Remember

The gentle touch of a loved ones hand at the end of a busy day,
The kindly sweet smile of a passer by as you go on your way,
The sound of laughter of many young children as they play,
These are the things you remember where your years pass away.

Those you love gathered round your knee as you tell a tale or two,
A bunch of wild flowered gathered by a grandchild just for you,
The special love light in the eyes of the one you love so true.
These are the things you remember when the days are blue.

The sounds of songs sung from the heart in sweetest harmony,
The fragrance of the blossom in spring as you sit beneath a tree,
Hazy summer days when each fragrent flower is visited by a bee,
These are the things you remember when you are tired and weary.

The sounds of the song birds rising on the fresh morning air,
The hustle and bustle of a busy street, and joy everywhere,
A silent room lighted by the moon, your head bowed in prayer
These are the things you remember when life seems to go nowhere.

So savour a treasured moment, savour that special gaze,
Capture a piece of nature look at the cattle as they graze,
Find little things that help you to travel through life’s maze.
For these are the things you will remember in silent praise.
