I HAD IT RIGHT
I had it right, but then did it all wrong,
I fell in love, my heart sang a sweet song,
I told him I loved him, would for evermore,
My eyes were full of love, this man I did adore.

My words showed love, that part I did right,
The songs I sang were full of loves pure light,
Hand in hand we went but love did not grow strong
Although I had love right, I did it all wrong.

Words of comfort did I give, yet did not live
As I should, no helping hand did I to him give,
Was not there for him when he really needed me,
I was so selfish in every way his needs I did not see.

So though I had things right with words so sweet,
But I failed my love, his needs I did not meet,
Now I sing no sweet sound of a love song,
I did not give enough I had it all wrong.

Farewell love now my heart is all empty and sad.
Oh, for another chance to gain that love I had,
The next time as well as my sweet love song
I’ll have it all right and not do things wrong.
