HOW FIRM IS OUR FOUNDATION?

How firm is our foundation on the truth that we know?
How stalwart is our faith as through this life we go?
Do we stand fast on the rock of our sure salvation,
Or do we in any way flounder, so worry about damnation?

We have the truth and light to make our footfalls firm,
We have all the scriptures, from whence we learn
Of how to gain God’s presence, live with Him one day,
If we stand strong and firm, all His precepts do obey,

We have God’s holy temple standing tall and strong,
Come and enter in, feel love guiding us to avoid all wrong,
Listen to the promises made in this sacred, holy place,
Have His loving arms around us, feel His strengthening grace.

We have so many blessings to make our foundation firm,
We should not faint or falter, as of blessings we learn,
But if perchance we do falter and stumble on our way,
The good Lord will come and find us, bring us home one day.

Please do not let us falter or fail, but a sure foundation build
On the love of the Saviour, so with His great love be filled,
We should be a strong bulwark against life’s battering waves,
And then the Lord will bless us and support us all our days.
