FAITH, HOPE AND CHARITY

As we go along life's way a battle we must win,
God gives us help on every side to help through thick and thin,
Three great soldiers strong and true are given us for this,
And if we stand by these our aims we cannot miss.


Faith can break the barrier of hate and sin and wrong,
Faith can, with one gentle word sooth an angry throng,
Faith can move mountains, heal the sick, help the poor,
Faith can inspire shepherds and wise men a tiny child adore.


Hope can kindle a dying flame and make a dark room light,
Hope can calm the fears that grow through the fearsome night,
Hope can find a silver line behind the darkest cloud,
Hope can find prayers answered if said silent or loud.


Charity can give help to those who are in need,
Charity is goodness, kindness and doing a good deed,
Charity thinks not of self praise or of worldly gain,
Charity is as the life of Christ we must try to live again.
