HAVE YOU EVER

‘On the straight and narrow path there are simply no corners to cut.’

Have you ever stopped to think for a moment,
That if our earthly journey is wisely spent
On the straight and narrow path to heaven,
There are no curves, corners or short cuts given.

For we just cannot cut corners on the straight way,
We will not find a better path on a very bad day,
We need to plod along this good path we have found,
It will by the very safest way be heavenward bound.

When we see glimpses of what seems an easier way,
Please don’t be tempted by what some folks say,
This straight and narrow path on which we tread
Is the best for the soul, others lead to fear and dread.

There can never be short cuts to gain a heavenly throne,
Yet along that path to glory you will never walk alone,
You’ll have the strength of angels to help you home
And avoid the tempting wide roads that will surely come.

Step by faithful step, tread the straight and narrow way,
Do not think the path is too hard on some horrific day,
But walk and keep your sight on all good things and true,
As you tread the path that will see you safely through.
