STONY PATHS

If through our walk in life our path is rather stony,
Strewn with sharp rocks and bounders hard as can be,
You sweat and struggle to get ahead, impossible it seems
To carry on, even have troubles in your nightly dreams.

We should not grumble, but appreciate the troubled way,
For we will look back through smooth times and we’ll say,
Those were the times I learned the most and I grew,
Learned to rely on God all those hard days through.

For God is there beside you, reaching out with care,
He knows the need of stony paths, not always fair
The road that leads to glory, the road that takes us home
Has to have tough times as on this earth we all roam.

May my stony path teach me how to trust in the Lord,
A heart that is willing, through trials keeping His holy word,
Some paths I know I could not travel if He were not by my side,
My gratitude to Him in hard times I should never hide.

However rough the path may be, I will walk with Him,
Pressing on regardless, not shirking at some silly whim,
For there is growth in struggle, and healing in hurt and pain,
Let us press ever onward so we can heaven’s glory one day gain.
