        HOT APPLE CIDER
The smell of hot apple cider so very sweet
As through the door I went, my nose to greet,
Just the good smell made me feel warm inside,
The need for the beverage I could not hide.

Cold hands cupped around a mug of the drink,
Slow sips so warmth into me did slowly sink,
It warmed me from my nose to frozen toes,
A feeling of comfort only a cold person knows.

Sometimes one mugful may not be quite enough,
The taste and aroma tell you it’s really good stuff,
If you have never had a hot apple cider on a cold day,
You’ve missed a treat that should come everyone’s way.

When the wind is icy and biting, the air cold and chill,
The thought of hot apple cider with hope you fill,
You will be facing inclement weather with a happy smile
If there is hot apple cider to warm you in a little while.
