SANCTUARY
In days of yore a church was a safe sanctuary,
A code of honour understood by bond and free,
Yet today the world seems not so honour bound,
A physical earthly sanctuary is not often found.
So we each need our own sanctuary of peace,
Find solace of mind, where all turmoil may cease
In our hearts and soul, sweet contentment find,
A sanctuary of love and joy, a place quiet and kind.
Where will I find this sanctuary and this sweet joy,
In my inner sanctum what thoughts do I employ,
Is there peace and solace like the sanctuaries of old,
Or is there turbulence in a heart that is harsh and cold?
Please, Lord, bless my inner sanctum with love divine
That I may find true solace in this troubled heart of mine,
A place where others too may come and find sweet content,
May my whole being be a sanctuary as I am heaven bent.
