WANDERING AROUND THE ART GALLERY
Why not take a day and wander round the art gallery?
Dont rush, take your time, let your mind flow free,
Gaze into a painting, see a pleasant pastoral scene,
Or one with hidden meaning, colours harsh and keen.
Keep an open mind as you wander slowly around,
Look at art work that from many angles are found,
Catch the light shining, see it close to or from afar
You may notice something you have not seen before.
Look at the different media used, the texture it brings,
How there seems to be silks and satins and other things
Like a delicate leaf or petal, a hand clutched in pain,
Veins bulging, sinews and muscles tense with strain.
Then you see a splash of vivid colour that brightens a day,
Although if you look long enough you begin to sway,
Or the sombre tones of large forests very dark and deep,
But somewhere on the canvas a little light does creep.
Then there are the carvings made of marble wood or clay,
Hidden forms set free by artisans hands in a special way,
Sometimes twisted metal to show maybe a distorted mind.
So come to the art gallery and see what treasures you find.
I feel that in every painting part of the artist is in there,
Sending out a message, some message for them to share,
Part of their thoughts and feelings are what they create,
Give of themselves in beauty for others to appreciate.
