A CHIP BUTTIE
If you dont come from the Midlands in England
You may just have to say, What on earth is that?
Come, let me tell you so you can join the happy band
Of chip buttie lovers, if you dont mind a little fat.
You make home made chips (french fries) just right,
While cooking get nice fresh bread, pile on the butter,
Then while they are still very hot, place those golden light
Chips on the bread and butter, fold and a sigh of joy utter.
The first bite is by far the best, but mind you dont drool
Butter all over the cloth, you can add saltn vinegar to taste,
If you lay them soldier like, it is one of many a golden rule,
Another is to gobble the buttie down fast as if in great haste.
It is not very often a nice gooey chip buttie comes our way,
For it is fattening and you cant make one in a nice café,
But just once in awhile, drop all etiquette, and quietly say,
Let us enjoy a Midlands delicacy in the middle of the day.
