MUSIC FOR EVER
I don’t know how many times I’ve told you
        music helps me heal.
Hidden medicine that works its way upward
        and makes you feel
As though all is well and the love of God
        is with you always,
When you hear and feel the notes it often
        lingers and stays,
Like a friend, reluctant to part from you,
        not leave you alone.
Even in sleep the notes play, softly lilting,
        what a sweet sacred tone
That lifts even the most base soul to raise
        to a higher plane,
Giving him hope that he can love and
        know God again.
Sweet notes, solemn notes, happy notes
        intertwine in one sound,
A melody transformed in joy played
        in a happy round.
Tonight music to lift, to heal and to make
        whole we heard,
In greatness, in power and glory like a
        sermons holy word.
Deep it seared into my soul, lifted me
        from the mundane,
Lifted heartache, cleansed me from
        sin and hurtful pain.
A feast of sound that brought tears of
        pure joy to me.
I know that good wholesome music will be
        with us into eternity.
