GREYHOUND AND GREY GOOSE
TWO OF SANTAS BEST HELPERS.
The grey-goose and the greyhound two of the fastest things around,
Look how fast they fly, see how quickly they all run and bound,
They cover this vast country of ours bringing love in every way,
Carrying loved ones and parcels so to be there by Christmas day.
Tearing along main highways, passing slow trucks and a car
That is going too slow, you can see them coming from afar,
Some twist up through rocky mountains, across vast open plains,
Carrying people going home, parcels with gifts and candy canes.
Going to the north, to less travelled places, gifts to bring to us,
Miles and miles from our family, and wed love to make a fuss
Of each greyhound and grey-goose and the many brave men
Who drive ice covered road, then turn round and go back again.
Some parcels maybe impatient as along the road the busses go,
Want to be opened , they dont care of bad roads covered in snow,
Packages of every size moved from fast hound to faster goose,
Or vice-versa as they rush too and fro, each one on the loose.
They hurry to make many people happy these great friends of mine,
The Greyhound and the Grey-goose carrying gifts and people so fine,
Everywhere you see them on the roads from south to the north so free,
See them right across this broad land of ours from sea to shining sea.
Three days from Flin Flon in Manitoba, to Swastika in north Ontario,
Four days if into the south, Mississauga Ontario the parcel has to go.
I can imagine inside all those busses across this country so wide,
Lots of different sized parcels, not one of them wanting to hide.
