KEEPING COOL
At the height of summer when the sun is all aglow,
Off to a large air conditioned mall we will go,
Stay and write a poem, read a few pages of a book,
Then off window shopping, just having a look.

I wonder how many others that are going too and fro
Are there just to keep cool, outside not wanting to go,
Maybe buy a drink of pop or a cold ice cream cone,
Maybe see a bargain that I just have to take home.

We went down to the lake where a breeze should blow,
But it was just as hot and humid, it’s everywhere you go,
So we’ll sit in the mall, then walk around a little more,
Then very slowly make our way back to our exit door.

At least we parked underground to keep the car cool,
I know, we’ll go and visit Lynn, she has a nice pool,
That idea’s no good she is away on holiday this week
So we’ll stay at the mall and out of the heat keep.
