KNICK -KNACKS
When I pay a visit to a place I have never been,
I buy some little treasure, something I have seen
That will remind of the joy found on that day,
Then I can look at it and memories never fade away.
See that china goose? That was bought at Grand Coulee Dam,
And at a place called Wenatchee I brought that little lamb.
The dream catcher from Flin Flon, a mouse from Winnipeg,
Theres even a folded napkin when we visited The Keg.
They even go back to childhood days, of not so long ago,
A model of Blackpool tower where the winds do blow,
A sea shell and a cheap broach won on the pleasure beach,
A book won for a painting of Jesus where a man did preach.
A thimble from Scotland a silver beech strip of bark as well,
Flowers pressed with care taken from a sheltered little dell.
A tinkling bell of silver, a set of horse brasses so bright,
All collected over the years are such a pretty sight.
It is fun to sit and remember all the many happy times,
Remember all the different places, all the different climes,
Each one a special treasure, yet not worth much in gold,
But for the love and memory each one of them hold.
