WONDERS OF THE WORLD.

The mighty colossus of Rhodes,
hanging gardens of Babylon,
the Pyramids, old Roman roads,
this list could go on and on.

Yet how many look at nature
and count them wonders to see?
Cast your eyes at nature pure
as you wander around, so free.

I saw a sunset I could not paint,
colours blended in perfect shades
as the sun sank. Nothing faint,
everything bright, even in the glades.

Red and gold water, the air seemed pink,
the hint of purple in the evening mist,
even the leaves on the tree’s I think
were changed, a sight not to be missed.

A new duckling waddling to the shore,
strong enough to dive and to swim.
yet he seemed so weak, here come more
following mother, Who’ll be the last in?

A perfect bud of a rose so sweet,
each petal folded in exact shape,
no human this design could meet,
made with silk, paper or crape.

The scent of the lilac along the lane
mixed with new grass in the spring.
A fledgling trying height to gain,
and hearing all the birds sweetly sing.

The tread of the mighty shire horse
every muscle ashimmer in the sun,
yet so gentle, a true friend of course
he’ll keep going till all the work is done.

Many other wonders drift through my mind,
some great, others small, all bring love.
So stop and look around and try to find
the wonders of God sent from above.
