THE SOUND OF SILENCE

The night was calm, the air was still,
There was tranquillity everywhere,
Nothing broke the peace that did fill
The dark green forest so deep and fair.

Listen to the silence beneath the canopy,
Feel the strength it gives to a weary soul,
No sound of traffic, nature pure and free,
Rest by a sturdy tree till you feel whole.

Can you see the moon beams glow
Onto the quiet mossy ground?
So bright that shadows show
And no other light is found.

The stars are clear and plentiful,
The northern lights dance for you,
In nature nothing is ever dull,
This joy known to only a few.

Find a silent place at the close of day
Where no worldly sounds are heard,
Just the sound of silence coming your way.
You will not want to speak one single word.
