SONNET NO4 - DAWN

Oh glorious dawn that heralds the beginnings of new days,
With many soft awakenings for all of us to share.
To proclaim the advent of the sun, come brilliant rays
That flood nights velvet skies with colours rare.
The birds give thanks with a tumultuous symphony of sound,
Heath, heather, grass and flower dew drenched refreshed awake
To new beginnings, stretching upwards where the light is found.
The mountains are the first to see dawn's lovely entrance make,
And the sun veiled in morning mists ascends above.
Each lake reflects her beauty and blush to see her rise.
What great gift is this that shows mother natures love,
But men who lie abed see nothing of this prize
And live quite empty not knowing of dawn's debut
And so refuse a priceless gift that is known to very few.
