NIGHT
Oh, night with restful dark and soothing breeze softly blowing
From the west, naught should disturb my much needed resting
Time, no noise, other than natures reassuring sounds of hunter
Or hunted. Night with a sable cape to cover day’s harsh reality,
Night with moon and stars softer glow to ease the black of night,
Is more pleasing to some that the garish rays of vivid sunlight.

We know that in true order sweet and simple, day will follow night,
And each have their own distinctive beauty of differing light.
But night with no breeze, no hunting noise, no moons rays to shine
Or glittering stars to try to count, would be to me a form of torture cruel,
For night without it’s gentle subdued light in the vast expanse of sky
Would be an evil world indeed and loose it’s form and symmetry.

No, night will always give to us some natural living light to aid man
With beauty, if he stops to see, and a guiding star by some mighty plan
To keep us in the way that we should go. So shine nightly stars and moon
Show us your kinder restful light, but do not withdraw the stars that shine
Or the moon through her waxing and waning paths, keep us in the light
Then I will always love the hours of restful dark and rest through the night.
