NIGHT SKY

When the moon sails majestic over cloudless sky
And Jupiter and Mars are bright, the world is still
And hushed for awhile from the garish din of day,
Count the stars that shine, count the milky way.

The moon in all her phases makes her nightly stroll
To gladden all the hearts of men, if they take the time
To stop and look heavenward, gaze into the night sky
They may be blessed to see a star falling from on high.

On the night the moon rests and shows not her face
It is then the stars show their true nightly grace.
For without the moon stars seem to shine more bright,
Seem to let men know they have their own pure light.

I cannot name the galaxies or all the planets in the sky,
But I can in true humility, admire that gracious sight
That is placed all year round for all mankind to see,
The sky at night in all it’s beauty and it’s complexity.
