The Natural Things

I'm thankful for the rising sun
That fills the earth with light,
And casts away each shadow
And makes everywhere so bright.

I'm thankful for the many flowers
That in the spring time bloom,
They fill the world with colour
And dispels the winters gloom.

I'm thankful for all animal life
That on the earth do dwell,
Soft and furry things that roam
And the lonely deer in the dell.

I'm grateful for each different tree,
The mighty oak and the lofty pine,
The rustle of leaves on a windy day
And the maples in a long strong line.

I'm grateful for the sinking sun
With beauty that's beyond compare,
That heralds the close of another day
And bids us humbly kneel in prayer.
