MOON TIES
Some nights, moon, you shine bright,
Giving off your lesser, more gentle light
Than your sister suns hot burning rays,
And we welcome you after long hard days,
Some nights you are half hidden by cloud,
But there, nonetheless in your shroud,
Shining vainly upon the earth below,
For we will not see you come and go.
Silver moon with softest gleam,
Shine, so by us you can be seen,
For your beauty should not be hid
From earthlings, shine moon, we bid.
Yet on a cloudy night you ride the sky
On wild horses, prancing, jostling by,
There is some kind of mystic strength
As you travel with graceful stealth.
But moon, one good thing you do for me,
Is to join me with my far off family,
For they look at you and smile and say
My parents are looking at you the same way.
So sail across your large velvet domain,
Shine gently through cloud and rain,
Join a loving family who are far apart,
And help keep the love light in each heart.
