TREASURES

Have you ever seen an eagle glide
When the sun is sinking in the west?
Marvelled at its grace with wings so wide
Stretched, not moving across the crimson sky?

Have you ever seen a moose play with its young
Half hidden in a wooded glen, almost safe from man?
Wondered how a creature could fit safely among
The trees, them so stately proud, so big and strong.

Have you ever seen a chipmunk gathering winter food,
Hurrying, scurrying along a rocky path, aware of every sound?
Curious, wondering, as he buries under twig and wood
If he will remember in winters cold where he hid his store?

Have you ever watched a water lily fold its petals in sleep,
To wake again tomorrow another vigil to keep
Or'e the lake, her sweet, fresh domain so fair?
And maybe smell the clover filter across the air.

Try and find the time to look around at natures gifts,
Keep them, like some treasury, to think of in years to come,
Maybe when you are feeling blue, your heart may need a lift,
Take out your treasured memories and live them all again.
