LONELY SUN
The sun arose all pale as though she had been weeping,
As if all her long lonely life true love shed been seeking
In her empty vigil across the endless expanse of sky,
All alone she wanders as many weary days go slowly by.
Can you imagine the loneliness of the never resting sun,
Giving life and light, warmth and comfort on her run,
No one to share with her all the things that she sees,
All alone and wandering, never having loves ease.
If the sun had a heart I am quite sure it would break,
For how much loneliness can one gentle heart take?
Hour by empty hour she serves and gives without rest,
But a morning like today she showed her tender breast.
All pale and wan like some lonely love starved soul,
She came to us as in pain wanting love to make her whole,
The brilliant sun seemed weakened, not wanting to go on,
As if some great battle she had again lost and never won.
Sun, sail across your wide expanse of sky up high,
Be comforted in your service and all you do as you go by,
You may not know that billions on the good earth below
Love you well, I wish I could find a way to let you know.
