SUNSHINE
A little ray of sunshine showed dust particles in the air,
Yet you had just all cleaned and dusted everywhere,
The sunshine also showed streaks on the window pane,
It makes me feel that I should start cleaning over again.

The sun shone on the snow on the cold stoned patio,
A multitude of precious jewels to me it did show,
Sparkling in the morning sunshine cold as could be,
The bright blue sky looked warm, what a mockery.

The sunshine glittered rainbows in the blowing snow
For a very brief moment, outside to play I wanted to go,
Go out and build a snowman, or an igloo or snow fort,
But as an older person I must admit to a second thought.

The sunshine shone on the flowers in the window light,
The flowers appear to be more lovely, colours more bright.
Their heads seemed to turn to face the sun, say ‘Hello’
And a second life into each petal and leaf did flow.

Not one cloud is seen across that ice cold bright blue sky,
Nothing to mar the sun as she goes sailing, smiling by,
Rays of bright sunshine making winter seem all wrong,
You want to close your eyes then listen to a birds song.

The days are getting longer, soon the spring will come
And the mocking sunshine far away will have gone,
She will come in warmth and comfort of healing rays,
I love the sunshine all year, but long for warmer days.
