SUNLIGHT
A shaft of sunlight filtered through the trees,
It danced and glittered in the morning breeze,
A sparrows wings were gently kissed with light
That made them shine with hidden colours bright.
Pecking at the seeds that had fallen on the ground,
A hint of simple beauty this morning was found,
Not in a glorious sunrise or flowers in sweet array,
But of a sparrows wings sparkling at the start of day.
