LOST SUMMER SUN
I saw the sun this morning, it was a pleasant surprise,
I wondered if she was a cloud in a very good disguise ,
She was lost, not shown her face for many a long day,
Thought she had wandered away, left for a long holiday,
For although August should give us lots of sun and heat,
Two weeks or more cold, wet and winds, us did greet.
Summer, we presumed, had just up and run far away,
That an extra long cold winter was coming to stay.
Then when she came this morning to smile so bright
Gave us a little warmth and some hope of her light,
We knew we must have done something good or kind
And then she felt ashamed she had left us behind
All those wet cold clouds, her glowing face not to see,
Now it will not snow until December if it was left to me.
