PSALM FOR THE NIGHT
Oh, Lord, may the blessings of sleep engulf me this night,
May deep rest comfort my soul and heal my weary heart,
May sweet sleep sweep down like a blanket to sooth
Away all the strife and troubles of this gruelling harsh day.
See, now the sun’s rays have gone to rest for awhile,
Her great beauty hidden for the brief hours of night,
Let me also rest through those hours of darkness,
To wipe away the worries of this stressful day,
I need the rest of both body and mind to serve thee,
I need the healing that sweet sleep will always bring.
Grant this blessing, Lord, I pray, come sleep this night,
Come, lull me like a mother cradling a weary child.
Cover me with the gentleness of sleep, Lord I pray.
