QU-APPELLE
An ancient river valley where great waters used to flow,
Where many wandering travellers went too and fro,
The valley seems almost a mile across from side to side,
But now its just a small flow, trickling, has no pride
Or the majesty of a Mississippi flowing mighty and deep,
I wonder if it remembers and its watery thoughts creep
Back in time and live and feel as it did in days of old,
Once again feeling the power of water so lovely to behold.
What caused the death of a river to leave a weak stream?
But let us hope that at least it can remember and dream.
