IMPATIENT MOON
The full moon, a silver orb, glides across the sky,
Long before the suns bright day began to die,
Heralding the onset of gentle, restful night,
Awakening one by one the stars that shine bright.
The sun now hurries off to others climes to heat,
So another night comes for us to lovingly greet,
Look, now the sky is darker how the great bear glows
And Venus even before dark her light to us shows.
No clouds to be seen on this lovely night to hide
The night sky, as myriads of stars shine with pride,
See there, the northern light dance with great glee
As if from some dark prison they have been set free.
The late April snow glistens bright beneath the moon,
We hope this is the last of the season, for I hear no loon
Calling to its life long mate across the icy frozen lake,
Maybe by the next full moon, spring will be wide awake.
