TWILIGHT
Look how the light now lingers,
In late evening the shadowy fingers
Stroke the earth longer, see how bright
The sun, reluctant to leave us without light,
Stays to lighten both day and the night.
A sign of long warm days so peaceful,
Nights no longer endless and dull,
By June, the dark of night will be short,
Giving each long day time for sport
After winters almost lightless days,
The hours of twilight that now stays
Fills my winter weary heart with praise.
