SUMMER SOUNDS
Can you hear the summer sounds
When natures wealth abounds,
Sounds of wheat softly whispering,
Flowing streams gently gurgling.
The laughter at children at play,
The loons call at the end of the day.
You can almost hear the flowers grow,
They stretch upward their beauty to show,
Overnight they seem to appear from nowhere
As their sweet perfume fills the warm air.
Come summer so we can feel and hear you,
Stand and stare in wonder at all things new,
Listen as the warm wind harmonizes with bird
Song so sweet, what a gentle sound to be heard.
The lapping of a lake beneath the rustling trees,
The wolfs howl is heard on the nights breeze,
The crickets happy sound as the evening falls,
The sound of the chipmunks chattering calls.
I love the sounds of summer, it spells hot days
And warm nights and the pleasant morning haze,
Lovely long days that you never want to end,
Working in the garden or relaxing you spend.
I close my eyes and hear the summer sounds
And this winter tired heart of mine just abounds
With the expectation of the good days to come,
And all the things in summer that can be done.
