HIDDEN TREASURES OF WINTER
See in the naked trees, the hidden treasure of a tiny leaf,
See their graceful shape sleeping through winters grief,
To re-awake in beauty when the spring rain begins to fall.
So in the winter look at the trees, see beauty of them all.
Look at the snow covering all the plants and green grass,
See in your minds eye the hidden treasures as you pass,
Sparkling diamonds in the snow, while all plants sleep,
Imagine each flower just waiting to come out and peep.
See the lakes now frozen solid, fun for all the family,
Skating, ice fishing, ski-doing, walking, ice firm as can be,
Then remember bright blue warm water shining in the sun,
The beauty of a lovely summer day that has just new begun.
See all the dark evergreens, as they stand tall and strong,
Keeping their sharp green needles all the winter long,
Then thick new shoots budding in a pale shade of green
The scent of pine in spring, making everywhere smell clean.
Winter is earths resting time for everything that does grow,
Im sure if we didnt have winter we wouldnt love spring so,
If we did not have the cold, biting, blustering north wind,
We would not treasure as much the birds that sweetly sing.
