A HEAVY FROST
Look how the hard ground sparkles!
See the red berries kissed with icy frost!
Each emerald blade of grass encrusted
With shining silver at no earthly cost.
See the veins in the cold rock glitter
As mists lift and the sun shines bright,
The pine cones look as if they were
Dipped in pure metal, shining with light.
The frost has touched the window panes
And hand painted many patterns truly fair,
Even the hand rails are covered in natures
Jewellery, and you touch them with care.
As the sun gets higher, because the air is cold
The beauty of the scene stays, lovely to behold,
Walking on a day when the world is arrayed in
Her robe of silver, we should not mind the cold.
