EARLY MORNING GIFT
White and grey clouds hung quite low over the eastern sky,
Just as dawn came to awake sleepers, show the passers by
A sight of beauty very rarely seen in such resplendent glory,
So hard to try to describe in words in poems or in a story.
The first hint of colour was pale peach, then changing to gold,
Painting the clouds layer by layer, so breathtaking to behold.
The grey bars of cloud caught the hint of a new showing pink,
Then pale blue skies behind this lovely scene made you think
That the sun in her fresh glory her new face would soon show,
But more colours came until the whole vast sky did glow
With blue and golds, pinks and even a shade of green,
Tears came to my eyes as I gazed at this wonderful scene,
The snow in the mountains far away in the west,
Shone pink like they were all wearing their Sunday best.
Then, the tip of vivid red glowed as the sun came,
Adding for a moment more beauty before the colours did wane,
One more fling of colour across the wide expanse of sky
As the sun said good morning to all who passed by
