WINTER MOON
How silently the moon sails across the night sky,
No clouds mar her quiet beauty as she goes by,
The stars seem to dim as she approaches them,
In stealth, embedded in velvet, like a precious gem.
See her shining halo stretch around her like a gown,
Of silky gossamer or of soft, delicate thistledown,
Ethereal in her full grace as she glides at will
Across her nightly domain, so peaceful and so still.
I love the day with the suns warm life giving rays,
With bright blue skies and the heat of a summer haze,
But give me night in winter when the air is crisp and clear,
As the moon sails in splendid silence and heaven draws near.
Look at the mountain ranges showing on the glowing sphere,
A special kind of radiance from the moon does appear
In the ice cold of winter, when the snow is glistening white,
In the magical beauty of winters wonderland at night,
