FLAMING JUNE
June, the welcome month of sunshine, long summer days,
When gentle breezes blow, and there’s a summer haze,
Yet for her debut she came in all dull and rather cold,
Everywhere drab and chilly, no bright sun to behold.

The clouds rolled over the lake like a flock of weary sheep
Trying to find a good place to rest, a safe place to sleep,
So they settled over this area, low fluffy clouds everywhere,
Not one single ray of sunshine to warm the morning air.

May was rather wet and so June we pray will be nice,
Full of fragrant sunshine, free from winter’s snow and ice,
Days when we can wander in late evening enjoying the sun,
An early morning walk before the heat of the day has begun.

Come gentle, sweet June your true beauty show us today,
Send those flocks of sleeping sheep clouds far, far away,
Come in warmth and radiance, come in ripening glow,
We are waiting for those first strawberries don’t you know!
