REFLECTIONS
When the wind is still, no ripples on the lake,
What a wonderful mirror it does make,
The sky a deeper blue, trees brighter green
Flowers around the edge double are seen.
When night comes with its velvet canopy,
Stars and moon shine twice, bright as can be,
Natures bounteous beauty in reflection seen
When there is no wind and the lake is serene.
Yet the reflections in our hearts and mind
Often come when life is not being kind,
When pathways are rough, tempests roar,
Thats when sweet reflections seem to soar.
When you are ill, you reflect on better days,
Days filled with laughter, warm gentle rays
On your back when the rain is pouring down,
Reflections can turn away the darkest frown.
When I reflect on all the might have beens
Consider how different my lifes scenes
If I had not married the great man I love,
And longed for good things ready for above.
How sad and empty my shallow life would be
For there would have been no children by me.
A career woman with no sweet family around,
I would not have the happiness I have found.
The next time I see the lake when the wind is still,
And I see double the beauty of nature, and I will,
I will reflect within this thankful heart of mine
The blessing given by a Heavenly Father divine.
