MORNING BEAUTY

Did you see the sun arise to awake the day?
It did so in such a glorious, resplendent way,
As the sky changed to blue from black
Not one bright colour did the sky seem to lack.

The sun welcomed the new day with beauty,
Aware that in this day she had to do her duty,
But do it with a grateful heart doing her best,
We should follow her example, that’s the test.

Each high cloud was brushed with rich pink,
The lake changed to rich gold from dark ink,
The heavy frost added a silver touch as well,
As weary night departed, where none can tell.

But busy folks hurried not seeing the sun awake
In all her lovely colours a new day to make,
Some even grumbled that the sun was too bright,
Maybe they would prefer endless constant night.

But I know today will be as wonderful as can be,
For it started right, for a lovely sunrise I did see,
I saw the grand beauty of a new awakening day
It lifted my heart as I busily went on my way.
