MY FIFTY YEAR OLD HERO
Well sister dear, the big five 0 has now arrived,
And we have all managed somehow to survive,
Remember the sad days? you, moms right hand,
The strength you showed to our happy band.
Our big sister, a true stalwart at home and church,
Would never leave anyone alone or in the lurch,
Although you were so much older and wiser than me
We seemed to think, act, the same visions see.
Remember the birthday card you sent me that day
When you were on your mission so far, far away?
To an eight year old waiting at last baptized to be,
You will never know how much that act meant to me.
Fifty years of loving, fifty years of always serving,
Fifty years of caring, fifty years of ever giving,
An example to old and young, someone to follow,
Whose life is full of goodness never, ever hollow.
Dearest sister, ours to share for all of eternity,
My good example may you always be for me,
Someone to share my hearts secrets and joys
Oh, remember when we played with your Barbie toys?
I love you seems too small for the emotions I feel,
A family bond that to some is more than real,
May the joys and work we share last many years,
And still be able to share all our hopes and fears.
Happy birthday sister mine, sister strong and true,
These few words are meant just my dear for you.
Always be a good example always be my shining star,
Happy birthday sister, always stay as sweet as you are.
