        IT’S UP TO ME
What were people like where I lived before?
Friendly? Miserable? Happy, sad, rich or poor?
I don’t think it really matters what others do,
It’s up to me to choose the right all day through.

As I awake each morning I can scowl or smile,
Be totally selfish or walk with one the extra mile,
Be a good neighbour, be friendly in every way,
Or be downright miserable all through the day.

It should never matter how the other people act,
It is up to me to live with kindness, love and tact.
No one can make me mean, it’s always my choice,
It’s up to me to listen and obey the Master’s voice.

Be the first to say hello and give a friendly smile,
Stop and chat to someone even for a little while,
Even if you meet a scowl, smile back anyway,
You never know, they may need cheering today.
