THINGS WE MISS
When we hurry and scurry and rush around
we miss a lot of real life,
If we are not careful this can cause us
much trouble and strife.
For as we rush this way and that not
looking at little things,
Like the look in your child’s bright eyes
as he saw the butterfly’s wings.
A hand stretched out to hold you tight
to lead them safely home.
A wandering soul pleading silently no
longer wanting to roam,
But be safe from worldly harm and hurt,
I alone was sent, but unheeding
Because of hurry and scurry, heart closed
too rushed to be caring.
We are sent on earth to find work to do, find
time to lend a helping hand,
If we neglect a task because we are too busy
will He understand?
Will He say, “You did your best, but not enough,
for my work and glory,
You need not have rushed so much that you
missed the best of life’s story.”
