ADVANCEMENT
Sometimes I get to pondering about many years ago,
People say the olden days were better, I dont know,
There are times when I agree about the good old days
But with all this new technology we have now, it pays
To keep up with all the new and fancy things around,
As more and more wonderful are always being found.
The advancement in the medical field is great to see,
We no longer die of infection, thats good, I agree,
But a lot of good bedside manners gone by the board,
Unless your own private doctor you are able to afford.
We are blessed with a doctor who really does care,
Treats you like a human instead of money lying there.
Travel now is so fast, long gone as simple horse and cart,
Yet we move so fast of seeing beauty we have lost the art,
The fumes from cars, trucks, fast airlanes and long trains
Pollute the sweet pure air, causing many aches and pains.
In this fast world we need always quickly to move around,
Not plod along with horse and cart along the rough ground.
Yet its computers and other technology that blows the mind,
These, in years gone by, we would never ever be able to find,
No longer use an old fashioned typewriter or even pen and ink,
You can save and alter and send things off to friends in a wink.
You can talk to them as well without using the telephone,
Even this to our great grandparents was only just known.
Warm the home right through with the flick of a little switch,
Much easier than knowing which wood burns well with which,
Yet I love the smell of a warm log fire welcoming me home,
The glowing logs so comforting after some cold long roam,
So when I look for somewhere to live, a fireplace I must see,
So I can have the best of both worlds, always comfortable be.
