ON A PEDESTAL
Sometimes we are placed on pedestals high
By those who love us, up level with the sky,
Imperfections hidden by strong bonds of love,
Always goodness seen, as they aim for above.
What if we slip from that pedestal we are on?
What damage to anothers soul will be done?
Help me to not let Thee and loved ones down,
Be worthy one day of a bright heavenly crown.
Strike from my feeble heart evil thoughts and anger,
Help me to stand firm for loved ones and a stranger.
Sometimes its hard to live up to others expectations,
Help me overcome weakness and silly frustrations,
For though a pedestal others place you on may be high,
It is good if you can stay there until the day you die,
The reward will be worth all the great effort and pain
As we are reunited forever and never to part again.
