A LETTER FROM THEIR BOY
Lying on the table, stained with tears of joy
Was a simple letter written, from their boy.
Just a few sweet lines to show in his way
How much he loved and cared, for those far away.
The letter was much read, unfolded many times
As the words read again, even between the lines.
A special folder was kept and each letter put away
So they could be found to read on a rainy day.
The mail man called, Letters from your children
As he pushed them through the door, smile hidden,
And the couple snatched with eager old hands
To read the things written from distant lands.
Oh the joy of a letter from relatives and friends
When you are isolated and seem at earths end,
To smile and laugh at lines written and tales told
Of the antics of the grandchildren as they grow old.
