MEMORIES OF MY MOTHER

I loved the goodnight stories, the songs you used to sing,
I loved the smell of lavender that you always seemed to bring,
I loved the time we shared on the sunny seaside beach.
I loved the way you looked at me when I had a tear on my cheek..

I loved the times we shared together when we played a game,
I loved the way I learned to pray and reverence God’s name,
I loved to hear your pleasant laugh, like gently falling rain
And longed to see you coming as I waited by the the lane.

You were so very popular with both young and old,
Your eyes shone brightly when a new babe you would hold,
You always worked so very hard all the days of your life,
And taught me all the things to be a good mother and wife.

I never really knew what you meant to me before you went away,
I wonder if I told you how much I cared. Now I really want to say
That you were a wonderful mother. I will tell you that one day
When we will meet in heaven and in Gods garden always stay.
