WAITING FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Bodies and minds quite tired, all in need of a rest,
A nice holiday would be the cure of the very best,
It is now the end of May and not until July
Will the holiday come, I hope time does fly.
Yet while you are waiting time goes quite slow,
As maybe all of you this fact already do know,
Plans whizz through your mind of what to do and see
When of the normal routine of life you are set free.
Less than six weeks before eastward bound we go,
Find wonderful places that we want to get to know,
Fight the mighty ocean with a puny castle of sand,
Go whale watching, this we have already planned.
Go to Peggys Cove, collect shells along the shore,
Find old forts and settlements built in days of yore,
Go to a fresh lobster place for at least one meal,
Get up early to watch the sunrise to help us heal.
I hope for one day the sea to us a storm does show,
Not one that causes hurt, but enough for me to know
The power of the mighty sea as the waves break high,
Then see when all is peaceful, a rainbow in the sky.
Some time too relax, some time to learn and play,
Saving enough energy to explore on the next day,
But just to feel a stiff sea breeze come our way,
Then watch the sune awake at the start of a new day.
