A BABY’S BLESSING
Gathered in a circle the men of the priesthood,
Holding a tiny baby, in quiet reverence stood,
Ready to give a name and her own blessing,
We could all feel the holy spirit descending.
Sweet words flowed like a river of testimony
From the father’s heart, everyone sat very quietly,
You could sense that the child’s spirit was listening
As those words from loving lips kept flowing.
Were friends present to share her joyous day?
Friends she had up above before she came this way?
Joining in the chorus with the saints of the final amen,
Then filled with joy and content went back to heaven.
Oh, for one brief moment heaven’s veil was very thin
As a tiny child was blessed, so pure and free from sin,
Maybe on the Easter Sunday a few angels came to sing
In our service, their heavenly spirit to us gladly bring.
