A LARGE LOAD OF LOGS

The logs came today, ready for long cold winter days
When fires burn warm and bright, and everyone just stays
Inside and curls up with a good, exciting or favourite book,
Even the cat meows to go out, but then just takes a look.
The crackle of the wood seems to sing you to sleep,
And the flames make fire pictures as you lazily peep
And see many things that dance about in the fire,
But you are glad to be indoors, build it even higher
As the snow falls and the wind blows hard and cold,
And night comes and in cold blackness does enfold
All in it’s grasp, but you are cozy, warm and free
From harm by that fire burning so bright and friendly.
I love a fire when the night winter winds blow cold,
When folks drop by and they see the fire and are told
To come and sit down, feel of it’s welcoming glow
With hot chocolate and a chat before they go.
It radiates more than heat, it spells out love and home,
It’s the place you want too come back to when you roam.
So I welcome with joy the logs that come once a year,
For I know they will bring our home a lot of good cheer.
